Hiya Honey a la Jodi Collins

You can tell summer is definitely in full swing.  The sun is still baking us here in Northern California.  Triple digits do not agree with me, especially when we don't have air conditioning!!   So when I say today's card was made with love, blood (plenty of sweat) and tears, you can believe me.  LOL! 

My dear friend and stamping idol, Jodi Collins, made THIS ADORABLE card a few weeks ago and I asked her if I could CASE it using TCP's PJ Bear for my main image.   Being the sweetie she is, she said yes and I got creating!

 

 
The colors were perfect for my honey bear card. I started out by stamping my images on Choice Snow White cardstock with my favorite ink - Versafine black onyx and followed with a good dusting of Filagree clear embossing powder.  I love the way heat embossing makes my images look - all glossy!! After coloring PJ, I cut him out and popped him up with some 3D foam dimensionals.  Lots & lots of stitching in this baby.  FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Here's a close up of my little honey bee.  I added some red Stickles to his heart wings for texture.   I free hand cut the sentiment flag too.

TCPTUES73 - Color Challenge

I'm LATE, LATE, LATE posting this.  But since I made the card, I thought I should post it. 

This week's hipster hostess with the mostess is none other than the AWESOME Leigh O'Brien.  Isn't this color combo just FABULOUS?!

I whipped out my Get Well set and went straight for Sprinkle.  Who else?  I just love Sprinkle.  Unfortunately she's not feeling too well.  So I tried to give her a little something to cheer her up.  A real simple layout, but nonetheless I think she'll like it.  Do you?    LOL!

 

Sorry to post and run.  But I've got dinner on the stove and my little one wants me to play a board game.  I seriously need to clone myself around here!!

TCPTUES70 - Eat Cake

Hey Gang!

I know I'm like a day late for submitting this, but I just couldn't resist playing along with this week's TCP Tuesday.  Susan came up with a SUPER fun stamp challenge this week.  She challenged everyone to use any TCP stamp that involves some sort of cake.  Who doesn't love cake?

So I had this idea floating around in my head all day.  I absolutely LOVE the last TCP release which included By the Sea.  My idea included the cute whale from the set.  I envisioned cupakes shooting out of it's blow whole.  And I'm not sure I pulled it off exactly as I pictured it.  This is what I came up with.

 

I used my Spellbinders inverted scalloped circles and ran them through my Cuttlebug using, of course the dots embossing folder.  And a cupcake wouldn't be complete without a cherry (or Dew Drop) on top!

TCP Tuesday - Nuts about you!

I'm surprising myself today.  Not only with a post, but a card too!  I can't thank you all enough for all of your supportive comments about Alice.  I'm taking this pretty hard.  I miss her so much.  It also doesn't help that her 'room' was also my crafting room.  So being in there isn't the same. 

I did get some happy mail earlier this week.  I finally ordered the newest Cat's Pajama's stamp set - Happy Camper.  The Kitty Kat Pack is such a great deal too!

This week's hostess with the mostess is Susan Liles.  This week Susan has a stamp challenge and luckily for me it was using this set!

 

Do you like that woodgrain patterned paper?  It's from A Muse!  My LSS, Stamp on Over is celebrating A Muse A Palooza this week.  I popped on in there the other day to cheer me up and this paper jumped out at me and surprisingly the only thing I left with.  But it works with this little critter don't you think?!

Here's a close up of the sentiment.  I couldn't resist putting a twinkle heart (also by A Muse) on top of the acorn.

TCP Tuesday - Howdy!

Yahoo!!  I had time to stamp today.  And I knew just what I was going to start playing with.  My Cat's Pajamas stamps and this week's TCP Tuesday challenge.  This week's hostess with the mostess is Susan Liles - stamping genius!   Susan challenged everyone to make a card using any penguin stamp, and since these puppies hadn't been inked up yet, I just had to do them justice.

 

My card uses the penguin trio from the It's a western thing set.  And the layout was inspired by a Mojo Monday sketch #56.  Gotta love a good sketch to get the ol' mojo flowing.    The patterned paper and big horseshoe (also from the same sheet of paper) comes from the DCWV All About Boys stack. 

I gotta run.  It's after 3:00 in the afternoon and I haven't started any of my Saturday stuff - groceries, laundry, vacuum, etc.

TCP Tuesday

Phew!  I never thought I'd get this challenge done and posted in time.  Been a whirlwind of a day.  Spent much of the morning in San Francisco with DH.  It was time for us to get our annual eye exam, although it's been MUCH longer for me.  2006 was my last visit.  YIKES!!  I've been a bad girl.  I had Lasik done in 2001 so I'm not as good about getting my eyes checked. 

But I was a good girl today and had that done.  Everything was A-ok and I ended up getting a new pair of Coach sunglasses!   I haven't splurged on anything for myself in a long time.  Well if you don't include stamps! 

My card this evening is for this week's TCP challenge.  Carole Burrage is this week's hipster hostess with the mostess.  And does she have a yummy sketch.  Check it out.

 

I had no doubt which stamp I wanted to use for today's card.   This was one of my very first TCP stamps I ever purchased.  Sprinkle is ever so relaxed in her blow up inner tube with a ice cold lemonade of course!

 

I used one of my much neglected Cuttlebug embossing folders - Tiny Bubbles.  It goes really well with my EK Success Beach Scene border punch too!

I hope you like it as much as I do.  It was a lot of fun to make.  I gotta run girls.  DH and I are babysitting BOTH grandsons tonight.  It should be interesting... a 2, 5 & 6 year old all in the same house.  All I can say is my step-daughter is gonna owe us BIG time!  Just kidding.  It should be a blast.  But just to be sure, you guys might want to check on me tomorrow. 

TCP Tuesday - Sketch Challenge

Hellooooooooooooooooooo!  It's kinda late to be posting, but I wanted to get this in before it was too late.  Nothing like a sketch to get your mojo going.  And did Carole come up with a fantastic sketch!  Thanks Carole!!

 

I hadn't even planned on using this stamp.  But this paper was just begging to be used.  And what a different color combo for me too.   In case you were wondering the paper is from Stampin' Up! and called Rockabilly.  It's a great pack of paper.  There's even cherries in it!!

 

I was actually able to make more than one card today, but I can't show you that one for a few more days.  It's for the upcoming release for All That Scraps.    I gotta run and give the little one a bath.  Then maybe a DVD for me.  DH is working on a side job tonight.  Then again..... maybe I'll watch Twilight again. **sigh**  Yes I'm in love with a fictional vampire!

TCP Tuesday - Color Challenge

Hi gang!

Getting this one in under the wire.  As you can see I survived grandma duty yesterday.  In all honesty it was really fun.  They were all good and DH was also home so that helped.  Both of my grandons are really good eaters so it was nice change from my picky DD.  I hope she grows out of her pickiness.   On to my card for you today.

 

This week's hostess with the mostess is Susan Liles.  If you haven't been by her blog Susie Stamp A Lot you HAVE to check it out.  Susan is so incredibly talented.  Susan has a yummy color challenge that I just had to try.  I do love this color combo, but it's a little brighter than I'm used to.  Hence the challenge!

Here's what I came up with.  What do you think?  I just love this snail image.  I have't had a chance to ink it up until now.  This image can be found in the Hearts & Flowers set and the sentiment is from the Spring Fling set.

TCP Tuesday Challenge

Phew!!!  I just got home from the gym.    I figure I might as well take full advantage of the time  I have right now.   Plus I always feel better after wards.  DH is home with me today.  Who knows what trouble we'll get into.    Mind you we rarely have time to ourselves.  My DD is always with one of us. 

Before I get into today's post I need to get something off my chest.  It's been 2 weeks since I lost my job and not ONE of my co-workers has tried reaching out to me!  I realize that it may make some people uncomfortable because they may not know how I will react, but after 5 years of working together, sharing our ups & downs, family stuff, etc. I thought that I made some friends there.  I guess not.  It's one thing to lose your financial stability and livelihood, but it's something else to lose those relationships.  It just really hurts that none of them have even bothered to reach out to me.  Send an email if you don't want to actually 'talk' to me.   Okay I'm done.    I just really needed to get that out there.  Thanks for reading this far!

Now on to some happy stuff.  I was so happy to see that this week's TCP Tuesday was a sketch challenge.  This week's hostess with the mostess is the amazing Leigh O'Brien.  If you ever need inspiration you will definately find it over on Leigh's blog, Sunflower Studio.  The woman is pure talent!  Here is the sketch she came up with for this week's challenge.  Isn't is FUN?!?

 

I picked up this stamp at the Expo last week with Michele.  Isn't Poochie just TOOOOOO cute?!  I used some of my new Prism cardstock from Taylored Expressions as well as my coveted Doodlebug paper and ribbon.  And no card would be complete with out using my Nesties or my Cuttlebug Swiss dot embossing folder.

 

Well girls I must be off.  So many things I want to do, let's see how many I actually DO!

TCP Tuesday - Color Challenge

 Almost didn't think I'd get this one posted today.   This week's TCP Tuesday challenge called for a color challenge.  Check out this palette!

  How could I *NOT* play?!    This week's hostess is Jen del Munro.  Check out Jen's blog for all the details on how to play.  And believe me it's soooooo worth it.  Every month Alma selects a Swanky Stamper and you can earn some free rubbah!!!  That's right.  So what are you waiting for?

Here's what I came up with for the challenge.......

 

I couldn't get this card done this morning.  Which is when my mojo is usually it's best.  I'm a morning person.  I know.  Don't hate me.  But it wasn't having any of it this morning.  So I did my typical Saturday stuff... gymnastics for DD, groceries, Target, etc.  Came home and downed a Red Bull.   Now I know why my sister always has one of those in her hands.  It's like liquid crack!  J/K

Anywho.... I wanted to show you a close up of the yellow cardstock.  I used the tiny eggs from the Spring Fling set with Versamark ink and then rubbed pearlscent light yellow chalk over them to bring out a little color.
