Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #142

Woo-hoo!!!!  It's Friday.  And you know what that means - yep time for another fantastic sketch from Taylor!  Get a load of this baby......

 

 

When I saw this sketch I immediately thought of a sailing regatta.  Now mind you, I've never sailed, but I did have a boyfriend in high school that was on the rowing team of his school.   I used to go to all of the rowing events to watch him.  Fun times!!!  It's hard to imagine that was over 25 years ago!  I remember it like it was yesterday.

Okay, so onto my card.  I once again turned to one of my favorite TE sets - Kid at Heart.  I was inspired by a card I entered for a previous sketch challenge.  You may remember it > you float my boat <.  That was the lucky card that got me a spot on Taylor's sketch crew!!

 

 

Patterned paper is from October Afternoon's Seaside collection.  I used the pennant and wave dies from TCP.   I used Colorbox chalk ink for my sail boat.  As I always do, after stamping, I dusted it with clear embossing powder for a glossy finish.   This card could easily be used for a guy too!

Happy Friday!!!  I suspect it will be a quiet Friday all around.  Traffic was light this morning on my way into work.  Fingers crossed it's like that after work! 

 

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this adorable new set from Taylor, called Baby Cakes.  A little T.M.I., but my very first love (and literally the boy next door) used to call me that.  So I guess I  have a little bias towards the name!  In addition to the new set, I picked up a coordinating Project Pantry Kit featuring some paper from My Mind's Eye Alphabet Soup.  I love the way this turned out with the buttons and twine.  I paper pieced the baby carriage to compliment the card.  Isn't baby Cuppie cute?

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #138

Happy Friday!!!!  The only other thing better than it being a payday-Friday is Taylor's Sketch Challenge!

 

There were SOOOO many possibilities for this sketch, but I knew exactly which stamps I wanted to get inky for it.  I picked up these adorable Sweet Friends a few TE orders ago, and they have been begging to be played with.  Aren't these little guys CUTE?!!  I've had this paper from Doodlebug forever and am just now playing with it.  Oh, when will the madness end!  LOL!

After stamping my images, I colored them with Copics and added a little sumpin', sumpin' with my Spica glitter pens, cut them out & popped them up with dimensionals!  After I put it all together it still looked a little naked, so I added a single row of piercing just above the scallop border.

Take 2 on TE Sketch #137

Hi Gang!  How is everyone today?  I'm feeling pretty good.  DD is back to school this week after having last week off for spring break.  I'm all about routines!  LOL!

I didn't have any time for stamping this weekend as we had family in for my daughter's First Holy Communion celebration.   Here is a picture of her with our Pastor Father Mike.  We are so proud of her! 

 
 
 

I do have a card that I hadn't posted yet to share with you.  It's another take on Taylor's Sketch Challenge.

 
I used a "FREEBIE" that Taylor had given out when she announced the grand opening of Taylored Expressions on Splitcoast.  In case you want to snatch them up too, click ---> HERE <---

My card features Cuppie in Paris.  I used some paper from Echo Park's Be Mine collection.

 

I followed the sketch pretty much to the letter.  I had a lot of fun coloring this image.  For my sky, I kept the image in my die and airbrushed the sky before removing it.  I really like how it looks once you take it out. Not sure if you can see it, but I have a small red rhinestone at the top of the Eiffel Tower.   

 

Here's a close up of Cuppie and her bag of wine and bread.  I added some clear glaze to the wine bottle for effect.

TE Sketch Challenge #137

Happy Friday Everyone!!

I'm SUPER excited about today's post.  Why may you ask?  Well it's my first "official" post as part of Taylor's Sketch Crew!!   I hope you will play along with us!

Just take a look at this baby.  Soooo fun!

 

 

I turned the sketch and added waves & sand for the scallops.  Look at me thinkin' outside the box.  LOL!  I love yellow & orange for summer colors when making cards.  I used a single piece of patterned paper to add some background for my card.  It's a really old one too from Flair Designs.  I've been hoarding it for awhile now.  Cuppie is soaking up some rays from the faux sun I made her.  I used my big scalloped ovals nesties for my sun and pierced the border for some texture.  And of course I had to use my glaze black pen for Cuppie's shades.

Happy Monday peeps!!!

I'm busting at the seams with some exciting news!  Or did you already hear?  I will be joining Taylor's Sketch Crew!!!  Taylor made the announcement Friday on her blog.  You can read about it HERE.

 

For those of you that know me this is a HUGE dream come true.  I have been a long time fan of Taylored Expressions.  And to be a part of the team is literally the icing on the cake for me.  Or in this case, a cupcake!! 

While I don't "officially" start with the sketch crew until April 22nd, I figured I'd get my feet wet playing along with this weeks challenge.  It's a good one too.  There's a 3-peat for embellies.  You know I love to do threes with my pearls & rhinestones.

 

Here's my take on it......... Look Mom - no coloring!!!

I finally inked up my What's Cookin' set.  Sooo sad too.  I've had this since it came out November!!!  I'm sure that has never happened to you guys.  LOL!    I had a fierce migraine this weekend and I found it difficult to stamp, so I used the sketch to help jump start my mojo.   I also broke into my October Afternoon Modern Homemaker paper.  The image was cut out using Taylor's apron die.  Do you like my sentiment flag??  Pretty sweet, huh!?!  That's one of the new C.C. TESC is back!

Good morning peeps.  I almost don't believe it, but we've almost been a whole day without rain!!  Woo-hoo!  I don't mind the rain, but I do notice a shift in my mood when the sun is out.  I definitely have a little more pep in my step.   Well usually.  I'm actually coming down with a cold.  It started yesterday when I woke up with a nasty sore throat and today it's moved into my ears.  Wahhhhhhh! (imagine that in my most annoying Snookie voice) - LOL!!!

I don't know if you guys have heard, Taylor has brought back cupcake sketch challenges.  As awful as I felt yesterday I just had to play along.  I mean check out this baby!!

 

Here's my take on it.  Yes I know literal to the end!  I can't help it.  I mean after all that's what sketch challenges are for.  This one was a stretch for me in terms of a layout.   

 

When I saw the sketch sample, I instantly knew I wanted to play with my newest TE stamp set, Hello Spring.  I just ♥ this set.  I also used some more of that yummy jubilee cardstock from Bazzill.  In keeping with my "chicks rule" them I used more patterned paper is from Three Bugs in a Rug's April Showers collection.  Can you say cute?!  I have a lot of different textures going on here too.  I paper pieced the egg shells with the opposing side of my patterned paper.   I also pulled out my all time favorite Cuttlebug dots embossing folder for the image panel, followed by rounding the corners with my corner rounder.  Not a whole lot of coloring on this one.

Did everyone have a good weekend?  We almost reached triple digits here in the Bay Area.  Too hot for me!  We don't have air conditioning so it was pretty uncomfortable. 

So I took advantage of my limited time in cooler morning hours to get some stamping done.  First up... Taylor's sketch from Friday.  Doesn't it look fun?!

For my card I  knew exactly which TE stamps I wanted to play with.  My new Cuppie in the Kitchen set.  All of the images in this set are just priceless.

I had these measuring spoons from Stamping Bella forever and decided I could (gasp!) use them for a card.  After all that's what I bought them for!

Well girls sorry to have to post and run.  But I have to go hunker down in meetings for the rest of the day. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

 

All That Scraps - Sneak Peeks!!

I'm back today with some more new stamps! Today's sneak peek is from this month's release from All That Scraps.  I told you all I was a busy bee.  

The Honey's are back this month.  This cutie is Summer and she is ready for some fun in the sun!  The sentiment is from AmyR's underwater sentiments.

I was inspired by Taylor's sketch from Friday for my card.  The patterned paper is an older print from Flair Designs.  I just love the colors.

I drenched her inner tube with some diamond glaze to make it look wet.  And she wouldn't be complete without some sparkle.  I added some Stickles to her bow and flip flops.  Don'tcha just love her?

I know, don't fall over.  But I'm posting!!!  It feels good too.   It seems whenever I have a little break from stamping the best way to get back into the swing of things is to turn to a challenge.  And what a better one than a sketch!  You all know how much I love my sketch challenges.

Here's my take on it.  I used a card I made awhile back for one of my own sketch challenges for my inspiration.  Here is the card I'm talking about.   

I wanted to play with my much neglected Cat's Pajama's stamps.  All images are from the By the Sea set.   I really love how this turned out.  Pretty simple in terms of my paper.  I only used one small piece of patterned paper from Imaginisce.  I tried to add some Stickles to the focal image to make it also look like a port hole.
