What have I been up to?

Well this actually.....  This is my DD and her friend Gina (on the left, DD on the right).  Today she graduated from Kindergarten.  This picture was taken Monday at the year end celebration.  It was a lot of fun.

 

I've been pretty busy this past week with school winding down.  I honestly don't know how you gals with more than 1 kid do it!  I've got my hands full with the one,  working full time and feel overwhelmed much of the time! 

So I apologize for being away for so many days.  You know how much I hate that!

Today is Wednesday, and that means there's a challenge over at All That Scraps.  It's a fun one too girls.  This week Lesa challenged us to try the grid technique.  Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to play along this week, but some of the other DT gals did and they ROCKED it.  Be sure to stop by the ATS blog to see their samples.  I really encourage you to play too.  Amy does look at these when she is considering the monthly guest designers.  Who knows the next one could be you!

I do have something crafty to share today. I'm part of a monthly ATC swap group that I joined a few months ago.  Here are my last 2 submissions.

 

I just *love* these ladybugs.  Yes that grass is actually Flower Soft.  ANOTHER thing I swore I'd never get into.  Ha!  Famous last words.  When I was done with the ATC, I just felt it was missing something, then the idea of the 'grass' came to me.  I used shamrock green.  I also used diamond glaze on the spots of the ladybugs.

 

And well this cutie, just *had* to see more ink.  She's from the Kiki Plate 1 set from Pink Cat Studio.  If you are cat freak like me you will love all of the images in this set.  SUPER cute!!  And of course I was just itching use my new Doodlebug cupcake patterned paper.

Happy Almost Spring

Hi gang!

Sorry I haven't posted in a couple of days.  I'm definitely going through all of the 'feelings' of losing my job.    Surprisingly I'm still finding that there are not enough hours in a day to get all the things I want done.  This is probably a good thing.  I'm not one that does well with too much down time.

Today I had a chance to finish up playing along with Jen del Munro's sketch for you to try.  Have I ever mentioned how amazing Jen is?   I always find so much inspiration when I see her work.     Here is the sketch she came up with for this week. 

 

I decided to continue with my theme of spring.  I've had this stamp, from Great Impressions, for a long time.  I thought it would be perfect for this challenge.

Reach for the Stars

Can you say tired?    Yesterday seemed to fly by didn't it?  I love spring, but hated losing that hour.  Things were pretty low key for us this weekend.  Mom has been doing well for the past few days.  No pain and her levels are steady.  We did also receive some fantastic news - NO CANCER!!!    I can't tell you what a relief this is for her and our family.  While we are still waiting for the remaining test results we figured that was the worst of it.    But we're not out of the woods yet.  Thank you to everyone that has emailed me their support.  It has really helped me A LOT.  Especially on those days when things get scary. 

So......... I did a bad thing that I must confess.  I broke down and bought some stamps from The Greeting Farm.  I couldn't help it.  After trying my hand at Pretty Hat Anya last week, I could feel the rubber madness starting.  You know that little voice inside you that says - I *need* that!    So I headed on over to order some. 

I immediately fell in love with this cutie - Cheer Anya and Jen del Muro's sketch for you to try (SFYTT) was the perfect excuse to ink her up.   Here is Jen's sketch.

 

And here's what I did with her.

 

These colors are very different for me, but I think I liked the way I tied in everything.  The cardstock has embossed stars on it.  I tried to get a close up of it.

 

I've really been practicing with my coloring.  What I've been doing is stamping several images and when my mojo isn't there, I will sit and color the images.  Sometimes that helps spark and idea or color combo.

A new sketch and a pretty hat

Happy Monday!!!

I managed to get a little stamping done yesterday as it rained ALL day.    One of the things I got to finally try was to participate in Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try.    Here is the sketch......

 

And here's my card.  {{{{{Squeal}}}}}}!!  I really love the way this card turned out.

 

I just love this little cutie all dressed up with her dog. This image is from a set called Pretty Hat Anya from The Greeting Farm, formerly Pink Poison.  My dear friend Michele H. let me play with this set when she & I got together last time to stamp.  She also gave me this goregous patterned paper.  Isn't she the sweetest?!!!  She's always doing stuff like that. 

I heat embossed the image before I colored her in.  I've been doing that a lot with my images lately.  I really like the way it gives the image a dark and shiny look.

Here's a shot of the inside.  I used one of the new stamps from AmyR Friendship sentiments.  I thought this was perfect for dressed up Anya.

Hello Cupcake

I wanted send everyone a little love today.  DH & I don't have any big plans today other than dinner.      I can't complain after all that's what we did on our first date - which was a blind date at that!  12 years later.......    Yah I think I'll keep him! 

Anywho I was supposed to show you guys this card the other day, but I wanted to make sure it's receipient had received it.  Well I hope she did as today is Valentine's Day.  Most of you know what a crazy cat person I am.  Yes I do love kitties!!!  <----- And this IS how I sleep many nights!  When I saw this stamp set by Pink Cat Studio I just knew I *HAD* to get it.  The set is appropriately called Kiki plate 1.  I used to have this stuffed cat when I was little that I called Kiki - cause I couldn't say Cat.  I still have her too!  

 

There are 8 adorable images in this set and 12 sentiments.  It was difficult to pick just one to use, but the cupcake did it for me.  Plus I wanted to use my Shimmerz on the cupcake.  It looks really yummy IRL.

And since I already had the red thread in my sewing machine I decided to try sewing another card.  I really do love the way this turned out. 

Well ladies I have to run.  I hope that whatever you do today it involves love.  Including the love of stamping!!

Welcome back to another day of love inspired cards.  Today's card was something I did last week when Michele & I had our stamping playdate.  It's not exactly the same though.  I reworked much of it.  Orignially I had used a different stamp.  But I just received my latest Taylored Expressions order and HAD to ink up some of my new cuppies!  This image can be found in the Love is Sweet set.

I love this dark pink cardstock I had in my stash.  It's from SU!, however I have no clue what color it is.  I just thought it went perfectly with the dots on the patterned paper.

I may give this one to my DH for V-day since I haven't shown him this one.

Gong Hay Fat Choy & Happy Monday!

Happy Chinese New Year and Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had a great weekend. 

Mine was nothing spectacular.  I had a lot to do outside the house and it didn't leave me a whole lot of time to stamp.  Most of what I was able to work on I can't show you guys yet.  Sneak peeks start this Friday, Jan. 30th over on the All That Scraps Blog.  So be sure to mark you calendars.  You won't want to miss this release.

Amy's Sketch Challenge

Hi Gang!

I told you yesterday I got a lot of stamping done this past Sunday.  My little one usually crafts with me, that's why it takes me hours just to produce a few cards.  She wants me to always stamp her whatever images I'm using on her own paper.  Then she stops me and asks me which color marker she should use.  It's really cute.  And some of the stuff she creates is really good.  I figure she'll be starting her own blog soon too! 

Amy R. hosts weekly sketch challenges on her blog every Friday.   After seeing her card as seen HERE using her new Wedding set I just *had* to play along.  Isn't her card SUPER cute?!

 

The image I chose was actually inspired by my DD.  As this was one of the stamps she was playing with.  It's from Inky Antics.  I've had this stamp for a few years and sadly it's never seen ink until now.  The purchase was inspired by a card Amy had created too!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

At least it did when we went to Christmas in the Park this weekend.  The city really does an amazing job with this event.   My DD joined Daisies this year.  Did you know they had something even before brownies in Girl Scouts?  I didn't.  You should see all of them.  Too cute.  Here are a few of them.  My DD is the one with the heart T-shirt.   They were all so proud of the decorations they made for the tree.

 

I actually made this card a few weeks ago and forgot to post it.  DOH!  I hate when that happends.  This cutie is from last month's C.C. Designs release Sugarplums Northpole.  Isn't he fun?!  I used some more of my coveted American Crafts paper and these adorable brads are from Doodlebug.  They have been puttin' out the cutest stuff lately.  These boutique brads are just so fun, I almost can't believe I used them!

Have a Purrrrrfect Day!

Oh it does feel like a Monday today.  I thought of a million reasons not to get out of bed this morning. And only 1 to actually get up.  I have a job.  A good one too.  I have so many clients that are downsizing right now or even worse shutting their doors completely.  It's definately a difficult time right now and everyone is feeling it.

I feel VERY grateful to have my job.  It was only this time last year that my DH lost his job.  So if anyone is going through a tough time right now you are in my thoughts and this is for you .

Today's card makes me smile from ear to ear.  I just love this stamp. The image actually reminds me of a picutre my mom has of me as a little one holding one of our cats.  The stamp and sentiment are from Stamping Bella.  Not sure if you can see it but I also put some twinkle dot stickers at the center of the flowers in her hair to compliment the crystal brad.
