Farewell to TESC Sketch Challenge

Happy Friday!  I can't believe a whole week has gone by since I've posted.   I have no excuse only that I'm sad to be posting another good bye.  Taylor has decided to discontinue her sketch challenges.    I know, I know.  I pretty much felt like my little smiley.  But you know what they say, when one door closes another opens.  And in Taylor's case she recently opened Taylored Expressions up for wholesale!  How awesome is that?!   In case you missed the announcement, you can read all about it > HERE <   Can you imagine walking into your local craft store and see TE on the shelves?! 

 

We had four remaining sketches in the pipeline so to kick off our farewell challenge the sketch crew will be featuring different sketches on their blogs.  As you can see I chose to work with #158.  I used one my new Fruity Friends  set and some older October Afternoon paper.   Who says it doesn't pay to save your scraps?!

 

As we farewell to TESC, we thought we'd at least go out with a bang!  We will draw random winners for the following challenges:

TESC Sketch Challenge #157

Woot-woot!!    It's the 4th Friday of the month and that could only mean one thing - it's time for another fun sketch with Taylored Expressions!  Today's sketch is compliments of the sketch queen herself, Jen Shults.  I had so much fun with this sketch using one of the newest TE sets, Make it Amazing. I know I've said it before, and I'll say it again.  Butterflies are everywhere you turn these days. 

 They are so graceful and beautiful.  And when it comes to stamping, very versatile.  I decided to go with simple and elegant for my card.  All patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye - Be Happy.  I paired them up with some Bazzill card stock in romance and my favorite base - kraft. 

After sewing everything together I sponged some antique linen distress ink around the edges of the card base and the patterned paper on the circles.  And no butterfly would be complete with out a little sparkle.   So I generously added some stardust Stickles.

TESC Sketch Challenge 156

T.G.I.F!!!!  Are you with me?  I'm so happy the weekend is almost upon us.  I don't have anything planned and with a little luck I will finally have some much needed down time.   And I can't think of a better way than to plan some of that down time to get crafty.  I received some orders from All That Scraps, My Favorite Things and Taylored Expressions that I'm dying to dig into!

 It's true what they say, so many stamps, so little time.  LOL!  When I sat down to work this sketch I went through all of my TE sets to see which one would work best.  I kept coming back to the same set and had a "make it work" moment.  Yes I love Project Runway & Tim Gunn! 

 For today's card, I used Green Acres and another new favorite paper pad from My Mind's Eye - Dilly Dally.  I was inspired by THIS fabulous card from Nancy Thomas.

I stayed pretty true to the sketch.   I wanted to add a little texture to the background of the circle element.  I finally used my square lattice embossing folder from SU!  And hold on to your hats, I even did the inside of the card!

It's Monday, it really is.  Sigh.  I wish we had some sort of do over button.  Know what I mean?  The weekend went by in a blink once again, and I'm feeling like I still have a bunch of stuff to do.  It will just have to wait until next weekend, right?  LOL!

I was able to sneak some much needed stamping time in though.  Gotta have your priorities straight!  I've had this adorable Moka April sitting patiently on my desk waiting to be turned into a card for a few weeks now.  I decided I better get her completed because it would be Halloween before we know it!

 

Today's card is dedicated to my friend Michele H.  I had the chance to finally catch up with her yesterday over cofee and it was great!  As always, she's a great friend who's all ears.  Thanks Michele!

Once again I turned to my go to card base - kraft.  And to think I once had an aversion to this color!  I paired it with some gorgeous plum pudding card stock and patterned paper from My Mind's Eye Happier collection.  I don't think I've ever seen Moka any cuter than she is with her bunny ears and Easter basket full of eggs.  I used more Smooch Glitz in frost on the eggs.  I LOVE THIS STUFF!  Looks like a lot of people do as it's currently sold out at Taylor's.   Also, if you haven't already picked up her Moka hair & skin color chart, you NEED THIS!  It's my absolute go to now.

Spring is definitely in the air this week.  And Jen Shults has whipped up this fantastic sketch to help jump start your spring/Easter projects.  I had this adorable image from the Sweet Spring set peeking out at me from my scraps bin.  In addition to card bases and what not that never made it into a card, I have random stamped images in my scraps bin. 

Double bonus was this one was already colored!  I added some Smooch Glitz to my eggs for some added sparkle.

You make my heart skip

Hello and happy Monday!   I hope you all had a good weekend.  I spent most of it feeling under the weather.  I ended up catching what DD had earlier last week.  Crossing fingers & toes DH doesn't get it.  He's the worst sick person!!  **giggle**

Unfortunately my mojo was also hit because of this bug.  Luckily I had a card stashed away that I hadn't posted yet.      

 

My card features one of my favorite Moka images from Taylored Expressions, Moka Cherie.  I used Deconstructed sketch #38 for my inspiration.  The base of my card is smokey shadow from Papertrey Ink.  I  really like it as an alternative to black.  All the patterned paper is from Echo Park's Yours Truly.  Do you like how I colored her hair?  I used my handy Moka hair color chart to help me with my color choices.  This is a must have for any stamper.  You can use it on any of your images.   I hope this makes your heart skip a beat.

TESC Sketch Challenge #154

Who's ready for the weekend?  I definitely am.  I spent the earlier part of this week working from home with a sick kiddo.  I think half of her class came down with the same thing.  Crossing fingers & toes DH & I don't come down with it next.   

Hopefully my post finds all of you healthy.  Healthy enough that you have time to get crafty this weekend.  In case you need a little inspiration we have a fresh new sketch for you to play along with.  I had a blast with this one.  There are so many possibilities.  I just *had* to play with my Love Grows Here set.    I took a few liberties with the sketch, like with my fence and grass. 

 

Honestly it felt good to do that since I tend to be very literal in my sketch interpretations.  After coloring the image I went back over it with my Spica glitter pens for some extra sparkle.

TESC Sketch Challenge #153

Happy Friday!!  I'm doing the happy dance because it's time for another fabulous sketch from Taylor.  This weeks sketch was designed by our very own Baker's Dozen Design Team Member, Sankari Wegman.   Doesn't this baby get the ol creative juices flowing?  Okay, okay.  I'll be honest, I was intimated when I first saw it.  But rather than freak out (my usual M.O.), I decided I would embrace the fear.  After all they are called challenges for a reason!! 

I closed my eyes and envisioned these squares as clouds floating in the sky.  Light bulb!  I immediately reached for my favorite new TE set - Sky's the Limit (and coordinating dies).  I wanted to make my own sky background and was able to get the exact look I wanted with my Clouds Impression Plate.  Here's what I whipped up.

TESC Sketch Challenge #152

T.G.I.F.!!  I never get tired of saying that. Not only am I excited that it's Friday, but I *finally* have something crafty to share with you!  Yea!!!  I have a busy day ahead - chaperoning my daughter's class to the planetarium this morning and then this afternoon an appointment with The Cat Coach.   Yes you read that correctly.  We are having some behavioral issues with my eldest furry (he's 14 and a bit set in his ways) that we need some help with.  Don't laugh!  My fellow feline friends - you know what I'm talking about.  They are just like kids.  *grin*

 

Once I saw this sketch I knew I wanted to use one of Taylor's Al La Carte word stamps.  Since today is my dearest cousin's birthday I chose It's Your Birthday.  After I had my image selected, picking my paper was easy thanks to this paper pad from Simple Stories - Happy Day.  I used my Copic air can while the image was still in the oval die to add some color to the image.  What's a birthday without a banner?  I ran my pennant die using a scrap of the paper I used for the bottom of my card.
