ATS Review - Hazel & Webster

I'm back with another hair raising card!!  I feel like I've got a good head start on my Halloween cards for this year.  Let's just hope I can say the same about Christmas!  LOL!!  Somewhere in between there's Thanksgiving too. 

Did everyone get a chance to check out the fun Halloween 3-D projects from the BLD post yesterday?  If not, click HERE<<<.   I definitely want to try some of them since I'm still trying to decide on what to make for DD's classmates. 

Up today, I have a new image from this month's release at All That Scraps.  This cutie is from Amy Young's Sweet November holiday images.  Meet Hazel and her eight legged friend Webster.   

 

I kept my layout simple using a single sheet of patterned from Echo Park's Apothecary paper pad(another new paper pad!) with my black cardstock.  The spooky fence is a die from TE.  What I like about clean & simple layouts like this, it allows your character image to be the star of the show - as it should be.   I had some glittered bats left over from my pennant banner project I couldn't resist adding one to my card.

BLD Spotlight - 3-D Halloween

 

 

Good morning!!!  I must apologize for this mornings post going up late.  As usual I have a full plate and while that normally works for me, it's starting to catch up.  Calgon, take me away!!

I'm super excited to share with you another non-card project.  Go me!!  Can you guys believe it?  I almost had to pinch myself.  But you know what, I'm kinda liking it!  Today the lollipop gals are showcasing some fun 3-D Halloween projects over on the BLD blog. 

It seems 3-D is everywhere you turn these days.  Well at least in the entertainment world.  Anyone see the re-released Lion King over the weekend?    I can't see that movie without crying, so I won't be seeing it again.  I was able to sneak in this fun project this past weekend.

 

Here's a close up of one of the pennant flags.  If you like this and want to create one it's SUPER easy.  And I'm going to tell you how.  Here's what you'll need:

• pennant shaped dies
• cardstock
• printed paper
• ribbon
• small hole punch
• chipboard alpha letters or stickers
• glitter
• images of your choice
• glue/dimensionals

If you don't have pennant shaped dies (I used ones from TCP), you can do whatever shape you want really.  I picked up naked chipboard alpha shapes at my local craft store, but you can also use stickers, die cuts of printed paper, alpha stamps....  the sky's the limit!  After you cut out your pennant flags, you will need to assemble the cardstock and patterned paper.  Assuming you've already put glitter on your chipboard letters, you will glue them to your flags.   You will then need to "link" the flags together with ribbon or twine, by punching small holes at the top of them - one in each corner.  Then simply weave your ribbon through so that the ribbon is only showing at the back.  For mine, I added the extra bows to give the spaces between them a little something.   And finally decorate however you want!

Happy Monday!!  I hope your week is starting off well.  I feel like I blinked and the weekend was over.  Lots of stuff going on in our little neck of the woods.  I had a great b-day Saturday.  And for those of you dying to know, I didn't do an ounce of housework!!!  You have no idea how much that killed me.   LOL!

I squeezed in a little stamping time too.  Unfortunately not as much as I would have liked.  That always seems to be the case though.  For my card today, I used another new image from By LORi Designs.  This cutie is Witchy Prue. 

 

 
I used some more of my favorite new paper - Bella Blvd. - Too Cute to Spook
to help me create my little scene.  Do you like the night sky?  I created that using my Copic air brushing can and a cloud die cut out.  I created a tutorial awhile back on how to do this.  You can check it out >>> HERE <<< in case you missed it.  You don't need an air compressor or air can to get the effect.  You can also use a sponge too!!

What do you think of these little spiders?  Do you love them?  It's a new die from All That Scraps.  I love this die!!!  I dressed them up a bit with some purple rhinestones, courtesy of my dear friend Tinla.  Thanks girl!

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #147

**THIS IS MY 2nd POST TODAY.  SCROLL DOWN FOR BLD's BIRTHDAY HOP!**

 

Happy Friday!  I'm happier than my usual happy self this Friday.  A) It's Friday, duh!  and B) tomorrow's my b-day!!!  Yah, I know pretty weird - I still get excited about my birthday.  You'd think at my age it was no big deal.  I don't have any special plans I just like using the excuse that it's my birthday to get away with not doing all the things I'm supposed to do on the weekend. You know, the house stuff, groceries, etc.  

One thing I would like to do is stamp some more Halloween cards!   I finally got a chance to ink up my new Fangtastic set from Taylored Expressions.  I love this set.  You will definitely be seeing more of it!   I also picked up this adorable paper with my last TE order from Echo Park's - Too Cute to Spook.  I can already tell I'll need to *stock up* on it (a.k.a. hoard).  All of the images (vampire, bat & sentiment) are from the set.  I used some of my colored staples to adhere the sentiment to my card.  I  like how the purple piece pops a bit of color to the card.

BLD - 1st Birthday Blog Hop

I feel so honored to be a part of today's celebration.  I've been a long time admirer of LORi's work.  I remember when Stamping Bella started carrying her adorable images.  And then Claudia & Co. and ultimately off on her own!  I will never forget the first time LORi commented on one of my cards using one of her Puddle Jumper images.  I just about died with excitement.   And let me tell you LORi is just as sweet as her images.  Thank you LORi for having me be apart of BLD!!

I chose to use Hazel, which is drawn by LORi's amazingly talented daughter Hannah, for my celebratory card.  I used one of my new favorite Spellbinder dies - reverse wonky rectangles.  So fun!!  I actually started out with this patterned piece of paper to build my card.  The blue cardstock is really gorgeous.  It's called Enchanted Evening from PTI.  I cut a larger oval shape out to mat my wonky rectangle on.

 

You may not know this, but the sentiment comes with this image.  I really like the font.  In case you missed it, I also added a pinking border underneath my ribbon and some gloss accents to the balloons.

Hi Gang!

I hope my post finds everyone well and having a great week.  I can't believe it's nearly the end of the month.  The holiday's will be upon us before we know it.  It still amazes me how quickly the stores have everything up earlier & earlier.  I know I say it every year when the holidays do arrive - I'm not ready!  Just the thought of the holidays stresses me out.  After all I'm still finding Easter eggs in the back yard!!  No, not the real ones; the plastic ones!

Just look at this cutie?  Joni used this adorable image is from YNS (Your Next Stamp)  to use as her focal point for last weeks sketch.   I just love Joni's coloring and how she chose kraft cardstock to compliment her card.  I'm convinced that there just isn't anything that kraft won't make look good!  It's definitely a go to for me.   I tried to ignore this fabulous new Spellbinders die she used.  Too late, I love it!  It's going to the top of my wish list.  LOL!!  Joni's pulled everything together so effortlessly to make this cheerful, thankful card.  Pop on over to Joni's blog, Joni52 Stamps & Scraps to check out her other fabulous projects!!

Blast from the Past Blog Hop

Hi gang!!!   I hope everyone's week is going well.  It seems our summer has finally arrived here in Northern California.  It's been in the high 90's the last few days which makes being at work no fun!  But thank God for air conditioning - which is the only perk for having to be at work right now!  LOL!

It's time for another blast from the past blog hop with Taylor & friends!  This month's theme is birthday or birth-day.  In honor of Taylor's new bundle of joy, Madelyn Grace, I chose to celebrate the birth of a baby! 

 

I immediately turned for my Baby Cakes set and this adorable image of Cuppie and Baby Cuppie.  The patterned paper is from Simple Stories - Baby Steps paper pad.  I started by stamping my image and then stamping it again on some of the paper scraps I had from the pad to paper piece the chair and book.  I added some green ruffle ribbon from May Arts as trim to compliment the pattern on the chair too.  I like the soft neutral tone colors of the paper which makes this card versatile.  You can easliy turn this into a boy card or gender neutral by changing up the twine.

ATS Review - Sunflower Lula

I'm back.  I'm finally 100% after my dental fiasco.  Thank you to everyone for their well wishes.  They really worked!  I'm sorry I didn't have a post ready for you yesterday.  I was getting caught up on everything else I sort of let go after my dental drama.

Hopefully my card today will make up for it.  I wanted to show you one of the other new releases from this month that I hadn't played with yet.  This is Sunflower Lula paired with AmyR's fence sentiments and coordinating sunflower and fence dies from C.C. Cutters.

 

I went through my mountain of 6x6 paper pads and decided this paper from My Mind's Eye - Stella & Rose Mabel was perfect for the color scheme I was going for with my card.  Is it just me?   Or is any one else's 6x6 paper pad collection growing?  They seem more popular than ever now with many companies offering them.  I'm not complaining, but when they first started coming out with one or two choices, it was easy to snatch them up.  Now they're coming out with several choices, it gets harder to hide the bigger boxes from DH!!  LOL!!!

Okay, back to my card.  Do you like it?  I have to pat myself on the back for using non-Tracy colors.  Seriously these are not my go to colors and I love it!  I used Y26, Y35 & YR24 to get the straw looking color I used for her hat & dress.  What do you think?  Does it sort of look like straw?

Sketchy Thursday #147

Happy almost Friday!!!  And welcome to another Sketchy Thursday.  I've had a very painful 48 hours.  I posted on Facebook Tuesday that I was the victim of some dental work gone bad.  I was in so much pain that I'd prefer childbirth (all 27 hours of it) again.  Today I'm happy to report that I'm almost pain free and the dentist is waiving any costs to me.  The worst part of the whole experience wasn't so much the pain, it was that every pain med didn't work!

I tell you what DID work, was this weeks Sketch Artist.  Soooo lovin' what this fellow crafter whipped up!  Ladies, please join me in congratulating.........
