BLD - Farewell to Summer

Hi gang!  Sorry for being MIA for a few days there.  I've been trying to adjust to my new job and unfortunately I'm not doing so well with it.  The company is about the same size as my last company and even though they are a publicly traded company they are running like a start up.  CRAZY!! 

So while I knew the grass wasn't greener, it still isn't what I expected.  So if you guys could send me some positive energy that things pick up I would SO appreciate it!!

Now onto today's card.  It just occurred to me that summers end is nearly upon us.  Not sure what gave it away... the cooler temps or that the kids are back in school. LOL! 

 

My card actually came together fairly easy.  I had some scraps of this great beach paper from Flair Designs on my desk.  I have hoarded this stuff for years and I actually still have an entire piece left!  Don't laugh - you guys know exactly what I mean.    I let the patterned paper do all of the work for me - like the waves behind my image.  The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions - It's a Banner Day 2 & coordinating die.  I have always loved fancy sentiment tags and this set does that and more for me!  I took one of my yellow Copics to shadow the inner part of the sentiment cut out.  Can you tell?

Summer may be on it's way out, but honestly I'm not sad.  Because one of my favorite holidays is right around the corner - HALLOWEEN!!! And let me tell you the images that All That Scraps has in store for you are going to make you SCREAM!!! (in a good way!)

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #145

 

We made it peeps!  It's Friday.  Woo-hoo!!!  There are so many things that make
Friday's great; like paydays, or the one before a long weekend and when Taylor posts a new sketch - to name just a few.

When Taylor sent us this week's sketch I knew exactly which stamp I wanted to use - my un-inked Moka Justin.   I knew by using a masculine image it would force me out of my comfort zone.  Yeah, can you believe I made myself do that?!  LOL!

You may remember I picked up some awesome paper from Claudia & Co. a few months back. Did you also know Claudia sells fabulous 6x6 sampler packs?  I'm a HUGE fan of them.  I chose ones from My Mind's Eye - Good Day Sunshine Boy collection.  And yes I did so reluctantly.  I can't run out!!!  

As you can see I played off the colors in the patterned paper for my cardstock.  Definitely not my typical go to colors.  I'm really happy with the way it turned out.   For the yellow panel I matted my image to, I ran it through my Cuttlebug using Taylor's Stars Impression plate.  I love these!!!  You know I couldn't resist adding some Divine Twine.   Hopefully I'll have a chance to use this card - maybe for my older grandson.

Sketchy Thursday #144

It's Thursday!  And it feels like a Tuesday for me.  Since I started my new job yesterday my week is all twisted around.  At least there's only one more day until Friday.  Thank you to everyone for their well wishes with my new job adventure.  I always hate starting a new job.  I guess it's the same for our little ones when they start a new school.  No fun!  It's funny how some childhood experiences resurface in adulthood.

Have a Stylin' Birthday

Happy Hump Day peeps!  I found this card I whipped up several weeks ago and forgot to post.  I always like to have a good supply of birthday cards on hand.  So I decided to whip this up using Taylor's Sweet Indulgence set.  Kind of fitting after my mini spa day with DD yesterday.  We had a good time get our toes all purdy.

 

 

I actually used some more of my hoarded supplies.  This yummy paper is from My Mind's Eye.  I also used one of my favorite go to layouts.  I really like this bright green cardstock.  And wouldn't you know it I was able to find a matching color in my twine stock pile!!  LOL!  I wanted to frame Cuppie so I turned to my paper piercer to help me out.

I'll see you all tomorrow with another new Sketchy Thursday and hopefully some deets on my first day at my new job!

Life is a Circus

Quite literally these days.  Back to school is official as of yesterday.   Usually I'm ready for DD to get back into a routine, but it just felt too soon.  Anyone else feel the same?   She even had homework to do last night!   My summer is officially over today as I start my new job tomorrow.  In hindsight I probably should have taken this whole week off, because I still have so much to do - or so it feels.  Today's card sums up my crazy/hectic life right now.

 

 

I turned to TESC143 for the layout of today's card.  I used a few more things from TE to help me out - Life is a Circus stamp set, Alphabet Soup Boy Project Pantry Kit and Seeing Stars dies to build my card.  With a solid sketch and awesome tools my card came together in no time.  The Project Pantry kit I used was originally designed to coordinate with baby stamp sets.  But as you can see it is versatile enough for this set too!  You definitely get more than your money's worth with these kits.   So in trying to walk my talk with today's card of "Take Time for Fun" - I'm going to try and enjoy my day today.  I've got lunch planned with my little one after school and then we're getting much needed pedicures!  LOL!

Woo-hoo Sketchy Thursday is back on track!  Thank you guys for letting me indulge in my much needed time off last week by extending Sketchy Thursday.   

Believe it or not I'm still playing catch up on most areas of my life.  I'm winding things down with my current job - tomorrow's my last day.  I'm also busting at the seams with design team stuff.  It's all good though.  I can't complain. 

Let's get to the good stuff.  It was tough to select just one card this week.  I know I say it often, but you guys make some amazing stuff with my sketches.  They come to life in ways I can't even imagine.  Okay so on to the real reason you guys stopped by today.  You wanted to see who this weeks featured Sketch Artist is.  Well I've kept you waiting long enough.... Blast from the Past Blog Hop

 Welcome friends to this month's Blast from the Past blog hop!   This month's theme is "Collectors Anonymous".  I'm sure as fellow stampers/crafters you can relate!  We all have those precious ribbons and embellishments that we like to hoard, right? Maybe it's because they're hard to find, expensive, or just too pretty to use. Well, it's time to get them out of storage and onto a card! 

I know, I know you guys aren't guilty of doing any of that!!  Well I am.  It's a sickness I tell you.  I do it with EVERYTHING.  At first I started with paper, then ribbon and at my weakest point STAMPS!!  There I admitted it!    LOL!!!!
 

 My card today features one of the things I am guilty of collecting (a.k.a hoarding) - Taylored Expressions Project Pantry Kits!  What can I say, I ♥ them!!  I actually have the ones dating back to when Taylor first started them!!   This kit was released last May (yes 2010).  It features patterned paper from My Mind's Eye So Sophie collection.  I love everything from MME!  Care to guess what else I've been hanging on to 4ever?!!??

 

If you guessed this adorable measuring spoons charm - then you'd be right!  OMG I love, love, love these.  I picked them up years ago (really) from Stamping Bella.  And being the hoarder I am I picked up a few, but I *dread* the thought of using them!  Please, please tell me I'm not alone!

For my card I turned to one of my favorite stamping products - Project Pantry kit from Taylored Expressions.  This one contains papers from MME - Alphabet Soup girl .  The papers are so perfect for baby themed cards.  Don't you just love this adorable pregnant mom.  I love the way LORi drew her hair.  CUTE!!!!   It reminds me of the cut I had after I had my DD.  Before she was born I had LONG hair - down to the middle of my back.  It was too much to keep up after she arrived and CHOP it went!

Happy Monday!  And if it wasn't bad enough that it was Monday, today is my first day back to work from vacation. Let me first say - boy did I forget how nice it was to take some down time!  I had a really good week with DD.  We had a lot of fun with friends at the local amusement park, and a day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium! 

So back to the grind.  LOL!  This is my last week at my current job before I start my new one. 

Today I don't have a card to share with you, but rather this quarters ATC roundup.  I hope you enjoy them.  I sure had fun creating them.
