Yeah!!!  It's Thursday!  Only 8 more days until I take some vacation time!  It's been almost 4 years since I've taken some vacation time off.  I'm not counting the time I was out of work because that was just plain stressful.  This is bona fide vacation that I've accrued time off for and will get paid for!  Thank you God!

While I'm not taking a trip somewhere tropical or romantic, I am very much looking forward to some downtime.  I have day trips planned with family & friends and really am just looking forward to relaxing.  Which brings me to this week's featured Sketch Artist!  (Like that tie in?!)  =)

I have been a long time follower of Joan's and she never disappoints with her fresh and clean style.  Joan's use of this fun image with her beautiful coloring is so fun and relaxing at the same time.  I just love the pop of purple too.   It seems every where you turn lately this gorgeous seam binding is making an appearance.  I like how Joan accented her card with hers.   And if you love Joan's card as much as I do, you won't want to miss checking out her blog Stamping with a Passion.  Be sure to leave her some cyber love too!

I had a lot of fun creating this next sketch.  I'm sorry it's so small.  I don't know how that happened.  And it seems like no matter what size I make it, it comes out the same small size.  Technology and I don't mix well.  SORRY guys!!

 

I can't wait to see what you do with the 4 different panels.  Will you make them the same? Different?  Embossed?  Colorful?  The possibilities are endless!

New line from ATS - Laugh Lines

What are laugh lines you say?  Well they're not the wrinkles you get on the corners of your mouth as you get older.  But they will definitely bring a lot of smiles to your face, possbily giving you laugh lines ---- sorry!  No one ever said stamping wouldn't give you wrinkles!

And after seeing today's sneak peek you may not mind the laugh lines so much!  I *finally* get to share with you the sneak peek from the special CHA release from C.C. Designs/All that Scraps! 

 

 
My card today features the SUPER adorable Mermaid Laugh Line.  I simply adore the big eyes on these cuties.  My DD said that I *had* to use this image because she loves all things mermaid.  That was news to me BTW!  LOL!   Lots of texture and different elements going on here like - Cuttlebug's tiny bubbles embossing folder, pearl Dew Drops, wave die, twine (surprise, surprise!), clear glaze (eyes) and some fun shimmer spray from Tsukineko.

Here's a close up of the shimmer.  I sprayed it over the entire image.  Aren't mermaids supposed to be sparkley?!

Happy Tuesday!  And welcome to my final July spotlight for By LORi Designs.  Today's spotlight features Baby Pool Sam.  And if this little guy wasn't already the cutest, he also happens to look just like my newest grandson! 

 

 

Seriously!  This image could really be my grandson Bailey in digi stamp form.  He is so precious and just loves the water.  I had so much fun using my favorite summer paper - Echo Park's Summer Days!  I hope you guys aren't sick of seeing me it along with my Divine Twine again.  I just can't get enough of it.  It is so buttery-soft and easy to work with.  And not to mention it comes in 11 must have colors!  I had out my flower die from TCP and also used it again for my sun.  I love this die too.

Baby Pool Sam wouldn't be complete without a female version.  I know you won't want to miss out on seeing Baby Pool Lily.  She may be just as cute as Sam!  You can see samples of both cuties over on the BLD blog >>> HERE <<<.

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #143

Are you guys ready to get sketchy again?!  It has been a sketch filled week for me.  I'm not complaining.  I love me some sketches!!!   

 

 
My good friend Michele H. inspired my card today.  She made an awesome ATC a few months ago and she used this yummy paper from Doodlebug Designs called Cake & Ice Cream.  For some reason when I saw this week's sketch I immediately flashed on Michelle's ATC and the In The Bag set from Taylored Expressions.   Making my gift bag was easy peasy using the coordinating shopping bag & labels die.  After I cut it out, I stamped the "dots" using Colorbox Chalk Ink.  The handle and the tissue are also stamps included in the set.  I hand cut them to complete the assembling of my bag.  It took all but a few minutes.

Sketchy Thursday #140

Hey guys!!  Have you been enjoying all of the posts this week?  I hope so!  It's been a lot of fun for me to create these fun, summery cards.  All of the bright colors just make me happy.

You know what else makes me happy?  All of this weeks entries for Sketchy Thursday.  There was a lot of activity which tickles me to no end.  What can I say, I'm easily amused. 

There were several that I wanted to pick.  Seriously.  There were some amazing cards entered.  From Harry Potter, mermaids, lollipops, to animals and holiday themes.  But as Sketchy Thursday goes there is but one featured Sketch Artist.  And this week it is..............

 

BARBARA 

 

Okay who doesn't love Snoopy or in this case Joe Cool on a chopper!!  I just about died with excitement when I saw Barbara's card.  I can't remember the last time I'd seen a Snoopy stamp.  And of course Snoopy isn't alone.  He has his trusty side kick Woodstock with him.  ♥ him!!!   Snoopy aside, you could tell Barbara had fun with this sketch.  I like how she turned it on it's side and played with the 3 panels.  I must find out if that is a punch or die that made those fun circle links!  And in case you didn't catch this, she used October Afternoon's Campfire paper!  Now that's thinking outside the box.  Love, love, love how she colored the bike!  Zoom-zoom!

National Lollipop Day!!

Did you know that today is officially National Lollipop Day?   

You betcha sweet treat on a stick it is!  And what a better way to honor today then with a special Lollipop release from BLD!

I wanted to create a card that would capture the true sweetness of the picture above.  And I think I may have actually captured it. 

 

 
My sweet friend, Jodi Collins had THIS fantabulous card that she created using a sketch from the Clean & Simple blog.  If you haven't checked out this blog and love sketches as much as I do, you should check it out!!   As soon as I saw the fun circles (you guys know how much I love my circles!) I just had to use it!  All of the patterned paper is from Echo Park's Summer Days collection.  For the center circle I used a piece of cardstock and ran it through my new stars impression plate from Taylored Expressions.

It's hard to tell from this photo, but Hannah's lollipop is drenched in red Stickles.  To make the dots on her dress, I dabbed my colorless blender pen over & over the dress.

Even if you don't celebrate National Lollipop Day, you will still want to pick up Hannah for your collection!!

Blast from the Past!!

Wow is it that time already?!  I tell you I can't remember when I've had such a busy summer!  This month's theme is.... wait for it......... "sending you sunshine"  What reminds you of summer?  The beach, flip flops, swimming, BBQ's, or camping.   For me it's our annual family reunion.  We always meet at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, since it seems to be central for most of us.  And my card today features Cuppie & Co. enjoying a nice summer picnic.

 

  
I had THIS card that I did a week or so ago and the color combo just begged to be paired with this image.  So I hope you don't mind my reworked version of it.  I've had these cardstock alphabet stickers in my stash from a past Key Ingredient kit and have seen them used on cards and loved the way they looked.  So I said why not give it a try myself!  

I airbrushed the sky using B000 and colored the grass by hand.   Here's a close up the clear glaze I used on the blanket and the pearls I added as apples.

It's spotlight time!  And today I get so share with you Water Wing Willa from BLD!  Try saying that fast 3 times!!

 

Any one recognize this layout?  If you answered Sketchy Thursday #139, then you'd be right!  I couldn't resist playing with the sketch since it had several layers it gave me an excuse to go crazy with patterned paper; which happens to all be from Echo Park's Summer Days collection.  I love the bright, cheery colors in this collection. 

I always love to see little ones swimming with these inflatable wings on. They look so darn cute!   Sadly, my parents never got these for my sister & I.  Their idea of having us learn to swim was throwing us in the deep and have us basically sink or swim!    It's a good thing parenting has come along in the last 35+ years!!  LOL!  I'm glad I can at least look back on it and laugh now.  Not so much when I was a kid.

Sketchy Thursday #139

Happy Sketchy Thursday!!   I'm telling you it's almost as good as if it were Friday!    I've had a pretty busy week, but am happy the weekend is right around the corner.   Do you guys have any special plans this weekend?  Our summer has been jam packed and I honestly can't say we've done anything super tangible like travel or go anywhere exciting.  We are definitely spending more time together as a family and with family - which is always a good thing.   Not sure if I mentioned it before, but a friend of my husbands gave us a hamidown trampoline a few weeks ago.   It's been getting A LOT of use and not just by my DD, but my husband & I as well! 

Okay, so enough about my summer.  You guys want to know who is this weeks featured Sketch Artist.  Am I right?   Ladies, give it up for................

Seriously I don't think this could be any sweeter!   Donette used one of my favorite images from the July BLD release - Watermelon Smile.   I love how she scaled the card down and added just a pinch of black to make all of the other colors on the card POP; like the gingham ribbon!  Her coloring is simply amazing and I like how she used stickers to spell out her sentiment.  Cute! Cute! Cute!  CONGRATULATIONS Donette!!!
