Happy Thursday everyone!!!  I hope this week has been going well for you.  I can't complain, as it's been going by fast for me.  I'm going to cross my fingers that the weekend doesn't go by just as fast. 

Before I jump right in to announcing this weeks featured Sketch Artist I want to say how completely blown away I was at this weeks entries.  There were several red, white & blue cards that were such show stoppers.  Seriously!  It's not a typical color combo you see that often, with the exception of 4th of July.  And let me tell you they were rockin!!!   The funny thing is my card for my post tomorrow (hint-hint) is for a red, white & blue theme!  LOL!

Okay, seriously where do I start with this baby?  It's packed with so much fabulousness!!    I was first drawn in to her use of the sketch and  the wonderful patterned paper.  Secondly, I was completely taken in with this adorable image and Kim's amazing skills with her Prisma pencils!  And the topper - the gold accents on the panels and feather in his hat!  The gold accents remind me of the gold buttons you would find on a marching band uniform.  L♥O♥V♥E it!!!  You know how much I love the little details.

AmyR Wish You Were Here

Wowie, it's already Wednesday!  This week is flyin' by and I couldn't be happier.  Looking forward to a nice long holiday weekend with my family.   

I actually made this card for a post last week featuring one of AmyR's newest sets - Wish You Were Here.  As with all of Amy's sets, there is just about something for every project you have planned.  I decided to go with un-inked (gasp!  ) C.C. Designs Honey & Sugar image - Country Girl for my Thank You card.

 

 
I channeled the ubber talented and fellow Bay Area gal, Jackie Pedro for my card.  With Jackie's permission I used THIS card for my inspiration.  Thanks Jackie!!   I recently picked up some Lilly Bee  paper pads from Claudia & Co., the same ones Jackie used for her card.  The enabling never ends with us stampers!!  LOL!!  This color combo was the perfect excuse to use my oyster divine twine - it's a grayish/blue.  Soooo pretty.   I paper pieced her dress and bows to match the panel on the card front.  I also used my black glaze pen to make her shoes look like black patent leather.  A couple of Taylor's twinkles for a little added bling.

BLD Spotlight Post - Beach Boy Cole

I'm back with a final post featuring another new image from the June release for BLD.  Today I'm featuring Beach Boy Cole.

I just received an order from All That Scraps and I couldn't wait to break into this yummy paper from Echo Park - Splash.  If you love Echo Park and don't have this set yet, you *have* to get it.  It's a keeper!!   Those of you who have been following my blog, know I'm a Grandma.  Yes, my darling step-daughter made me one at age 32.  Flash forward 8 years later and now I have 3 grandsons!  And one thing about having boys around, they do like to keep things simple.  Oh how I wish my DD was that way!! 

And in keeping things simple I only used 2 pieces of patterend paper for my card with little to no embellishments.  I did make my own sand using a few different Copics.  I started with E31, followed by E35 & E57, then followed back by E31.  Easy peasy!!

I hope my post finds everyone well and enjoying their summer.  I'm a happy gal today.  The temps dropped a good 20 degrees in the last day - much more to my comfort!!

As always I thoroughly enjoyed all of the wonderfully fabulous submissions to last weeks sketch challenge.  And as always, I'm eager to see what you all do with the next one.  And now for my favorite part of the post - announcing this week's featured Sketch Artist.

Congratulations to Cyndi!!!  I was so happy to see Cyndi play along with the sketch.  I'm sure this isn't the first time you have seen Cyndi's name.  And if it is, Cyndi is one of the reasons I got into stamping and my love for all things from C.C. Designs & All That Scraps.  She is one of the original design team members for All That Scraps and as you can see from her card - she is a rock-star!!  This image is adorable and her wicked coloring skillz show off this cutie even better!  I *really* like the delicate ribbon she added to the side too.  And as I do with most cards I love, wondering where did she get that ribbon!!

Blast from the Past Time!!

 

 

Welcome to this month's Blast from the Past blog hop with Taylored Expressions!

 

You all know I can't resist an opportunity to work with my beloved Cuppie images.  This is from the must have set A Year of Sweets 2.  I actually made my own sentiment on the computer using some fonts I purchased years ago for scrap-booking.  I knew that purchase would come in handy one of these days (or years!)  LOL!  I used my Martha Stewart wing edger stars punch for the bottom underneath the sentiment.  I love that punch!  There's only one piece of patterned paper on my card too.  Another favorite of mine - Doodlebug Designs.

  

 
Here's a close up of Cuppie.   To get the white border, I air brushed my image with B41 while it was still in my circle nestability.  Once I was done I removed it and viola!  For added effect, you can see how I used different colored Stickles on my fireworks and and Taylor's Twinkles for the centers of my bursts.

Hiya Honey a la Jodi Collins

You can tell summer is definitely in full swing.  The sun is still baking us here in Northern California.  Triple digits do not agree with me, especially when we don't have air conditioning!!   So when I say today's card was made with love, blood (plenty of sweat) and tears, you can believe me.  LOL! 

My dear friend and stamping idol, Jodi Collins, made THIS ADORABLE card a few weeks ago and I asked her if I could CASE it using TCP's PJ Bear for my main image.   Being the sweetie she is, she said yes and I got creating!

 

 
The colors were perfect for my honey bear card. I started out by stamping my images on Choice Snow White cardstock with my favorite ink - Versafine black onyx and followed with a good dusting of Filagree clear embossing powder.  I love the way heat embossing makes my images look - all glossy!! After coloring PJ, I cut him out and popped him up with some 3D foam dimensionals.  Lots & lots of stitching in this baby.  FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Here's a close up of my little honey bee.  I added some red Stickles to his heart wings for texture.   I free hand cut the sentiment flag too.

It's Tuesday and you know what that means..... time for another post featuring a new image from BLD.  For today's card, I decided to play with Beach Boy Todd.  I spotted THIS card from stamper extraordinaire, Karen Motz awhile back and was instantly smitten with the layout.  It was kind of a light bulb moment,  because I literally spent hours trying to make a card.  Then I decided it was time to "sleep on it" and start fresh in the morning.

Sometimes heeding my own advice works!   Once I saw Karen's layout, I knew I could work it into a beach themed card.  Believe it or not this paper is from My Mind's Eye's Love Me Do collection.  You guys remember that one?  Yep, another oldie, but goodie!

The yellow zig zag was actully created using my heart border die from Taylored Expressions.  I had accidentally did this on another project and noticed Karen had used the same technique for her card!  Karen has an excellent visual on her blog if you want to use the same technique.  Click HERE to check it out.

Hi gang!  Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope your week is going well.  It finally feels like summer here in the Bay Area. 

We hit the high 80's yesterday - woo-hoo!! 

I'm getting excited about the upcoming weekend.  We are having our annual family reunion on Saturday.  We just started having them - it's our 3rd and I count down to them as if it were Christmas.  Getting the family together was the last thing my uncle and grandfather were planning before my grandpa suddenly and unexpectedly passed away.  So these get togethers mean the world to us.   Can't wait!

This card spoke to me on a few different levels.   The colors are so warm & soothing, that you'd almost miss that this is a sympathy card.  This happens to be one of the things that drew me to her lovely card.  I don't know why we are conditioned to think that a sympathy card can't be colorful.  And since this weeks family reunion is to honor/celebrate my grandparents, Kathy's card was a natural fit for me.  Oh and it rocks!  Did you see all of the yummy layers?  Boo-yah!  I love how she colored this adorable image.  Kathy is a super star and this weeks featured Sketch Artist.  Be sure to head on over to Kathy's  blog, Will Stamp for Wine  and leave her some love!

BLD - Spotlight Beach Girl Hannah

 Hi there!  I have a quick post for you today.  And if you're scratching your head thinking you may have seen this before, you're not crazy.  I had created/posted this cutie last summer when I was on the Claudia & Co. Design Team.  I had a slight set back physcially this past weekend and unfortunately that has hit me emotionally.  Bottom line is I'm spent.  As hard as I tried this weekend to get crafty, I just couldn't pull it off.  So I hope you are not disappointed seeing an "oldie" but hopefully goodie today. 

Not sure if you can see all of the fun little details, but I did use my favorite beach border punch on the bottom layer and some cork for my sand.  The light yellow around Hannah came from chalks.  I have one set from Pebbles (pearlescent shimmers) that I picked up years ago.  I had forgotten how much I love these.  They are so easy to use.  And if you make a mistake, you can erase it!  My sun was created using regular circle nestabilities and the inverted scallop circle shapes.
