All That Scraps Day #2 Sneak Peeks - Love Lolita

Welcome back to day 2 of sneak peeks for All That Scraps.  I hope you all enjoyed yesterday's peeks.  Is everyone ready for some New Year's Eve festivities?  Hard to believe there's only one more day left for this year.  We don't have any plans for New Year's Eve, because like I mentioned yesterday we are eagerly awaiting our newest grandson's arrival and need to stay close to home.  We'll be breaking out all of the new board games we got for Christmas.  And if DD has her way she'll get DH & I to play the Wii with her. 

Up today I have one of 3 new Lolita's being released on Jan. 3rd.  This cutie is called Ladybug Lolita.  

 

 

I used Cosmo Cricket's Pixie-Licious paper as my inspiration for the color combo on my card.   Off the top of my head, I can't recall what color card stock I used.  The purple and green are both from Prismatics.   I tried to add some shading around her with BG10 and then going back over it with the colorless blender.  It's simply another technique I do when I don't take to airbrushing the background!

All That Scraps Sneak Peeks - SugarPlums

I'm backkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!! 

I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday.  I can't believe how quickly it came this year and how quickly it was over.   My family & I had a good holiday.  We are still waiting for our newest addition to make his appearance though.  My step-son & his girlfriend are expecting their first child (my 3rd grand son) any day now.  We were all secretly hoping for a Christmas baby, but he's still in the oven doing a little more cooking.  I feel for mom though, she's ready to have him.

In between all the holiday festivities - baking, shopping, wrapping presents, & cleaning, I got to play with the new soon to be released stamps from All That Scraps.  And what a better way than to ink up the newest Swiss Pixies.  This is Violet with a key.  

 

You may notice something special about this little cutie.  If you guessed a coordinating die cut, then you would have guessed right!  Christine totally surprised the design team when she previewed the stamps to us.  I couldn't wait to get my hands on this.  The die consists of the 3 different keys and one heart lock.  Just perfect for Violet. 

 

 

Here's a close up of the Stickles I used on her wings and the Spica glitter pen for the key.  I also did a little air brushing with E31 for the back ground. Card stock is from Papertrey Ink (sweet blush & dark chocolate), patterned paper is from Basic Grey's Sugar collection - an oldie, but goodie!  The card stock I used for the die shapes is actually a metallic brown.

Sketchy Thursday's Featured Sketch Artist

Happy Sketchy Thursday everyone!!!  There will not be a new sketch today.   As I mentioned last week, Sketchy Thursday will be on holiday break until January 6, 2011!  That's right, 2 whole weeks.      I'm really looking forward to it.  Still SO much to do before the year end. 

But never fear.  I will still have plenty of posts for you, as All That Scraps and Claudia & Co. are gearing up for their January releases.  Can you believe it?  It will be a new year in just 15 days?!  I do love the the thought of a fresh start though.

Did I tell you or what?  PURE CUTENESS!!! Danni's card has it all.  These adorable Pure Innocence images from My Favorite Things are some of my absolute favorites.  Danni paper pieced her in some adorable polka dot jammies.  The paper is from the newly released My Minds' Eye Fine & Dandy Tickled Pink collection.  It's just perfect for this cutie.  Her hand drawn stitch doodles are perfect for her card.  I want this card!!!!  Danni you knocked this sketch out of the park.  Your card is A*M*A*Z*I*N*G!!  I hope you guys will join me in congratulating Danni.  Be sure to pop on over to her blog, Danni's Dreams and leave her some love.

Spotlight Challenge

(Using the Spotlight technique...spotlight a portion of your card)

 

Happy Friday peeps!  Are you ready for a SUPER fun new technique?  I had never heard of a spotlight challenge before.  Maybe you guys have.     Once I saw a sample of what a spotlight was I was eager to try it out.  It was easy to decide on which Puddle Jumper I wanted to use - Winter Ella and her adorable sick kick!

My friend Jodi Collins has been using this purple color scheme on several of her cards.  I just loved it so much I wanted to try it myself.  Cardstock and ribbon are from PaperTrey Ink and patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket's Mitten Weather.  I used the same layout for this card as I did for my Merry Latte card. 

Here's a close up of my spotlight.  As you can see I used another stamped image of my little penguin.  I simply punched it out with a circle punch and used a pop up square to give him a lift from the main image panel.  I used my glaze pen on him and Ella's boots for added dimension.   Some icicle Stickles and Sparkle Fluff for my snow.

I wanted to thank everyone that left me a comment from my last post.  I was so tickled about the news - and to be able to share that with you guys was literally the icing on the cake!    I have secretly hoped that I would be "found" by Kim and MFT one day.  *wink*  Thanks for letting me toot my horn gals.  You are da best!!!

This card truly blew my socks off.  Isn't it just gorgeous?!  As I commented on Melissa's blog, she made this sketch literally come to life.   Did you see all of the fabulous details... paper piercing, dies, and embossing detail - did you notice how the bottom white section matches the leaves and flowers?!!  Love it!!  The color combo is just beautiful.   You can visit Melissa's blog, My Paper Obsession  to see more from this truly talented crafter.  Congratulations Melissa!!!!

I'm a favorite find!!!

Hey gang!

I don't have anything new to share with you today.  I gave myself the weekend off (my only time to stamp) to do family stuff.  It was GREAT!  I need to give myself permission to do that more.  *wink*

I just wanted share something exciting.  It really made my day.  While doing my morning blurfing (blog surfing) I noticed that My Favorite Things featured my Merry Latte card on their weekly "Favorite Finds"  Yes I'm tooting my own horn.  LOL!!

ATS Sneak Peeks - Day #3

Happy Saturday!!!  Gosh it feels good to say that.   It's suppose to rain all weekend which suits me just fine.  We're going to pick up our Christmas Tree today and my favorite part of the holidays is to decorate that tree!

  It always amazes me that every year I ohhh & ahhh as I pull out the ornaments.  It's like I forget what I have.  Did I ever tell you guys that every ornament on my tree - including the top has to do with CATS?    Yep they are!  I'm THAT crazy cat lady!   It has been like a treasure hunt every year to collect new ones.  And there is a story to each of them.  I will post a picture once the trees all up to snuff for you.

I do have another sneak peek for everyone today.  It features one of 3 snowflake fairies to join Amy Young's Sweet November line.

I turned once more to my Girls Paperie - Tinsel & Twig paper.  I kept the layout pretty simple again wanting to focus on my image.  Sentiment is from AmyR's Merry & Bright set.  And see that gorgeous pointsetta flower.  I've had that FOREVER.  Soooooooooo excited to be able to use it.  LOL!

ATS Sneak Peeks - Day #2

Happy Friday Everyone!  And welcome to day #2 of sneak peeks for All that Scraps.   I hope you enjoyed yesterday's peek.   Well today's your lucky day.  I have another peek for you.  Hold on to your hats, cause this one is love/valentine themed! 

I already had the red out for the holidays, now I just had to put on my cupid wings!  Can you believe that Valentine's day is the next holiday around the corner.  GASP!  Well AmyR is here to help all of us out!  She is coming out with not 1, but 2 sets this month that you are sure to LOVE.    The sets are Love-ly & All About Love.  CAAAAUTE, right?!

  

To help jump start my mojo I perused some of my favorite inspiration blogs for some help.  Karen Motz to the rescue!  I used THIS card for inspiration and put a LOVE theme to it.  I used one of my beloved Itzie Inkies sets, Bear Hugs (which is available in digi form) for my card.  I had so much fun pouring through the many choices I had for my card, but this one "lots of love!" just called to me.  Maybe it's because my darling MIL always signs her cards this way.

Once I decided on the sentiment I knew I had to fill this little guys arms with a bunch of hearts.   I also added a larger heart behind my sentiment to give it a little "pop".

All That Scraps - Sneak Peeks Day #1

Welcome to day 1 of sneak peeks for All That Scraps!! 

As always this month's release won't disappoint.  I've been dying to show you guys these cuties!! First up I have a new Sugarplums friend to share with you.  And she is sure to melt you heart.   I had no idea what would become of my little polar bear, but I knew I wanted to make a card with her.  Other images included with this release are a snowy fence, Brrr Emma and Teddy Emma.  Sooooo flippin' cute!

 
 As you can see I kept the layout simple with the bear being my main focus for the card.  I used only one sheet of patterned paper - from last year's American Crafts Merrymint collection.  My 'snowy hills' were created by running some white cardstock through my Cuttlebug using my favorite Swiss Dot's embossing folder.  Some icicle Stickles to make it 'POP' too.

The sentiment is from AmyR's Merry & Bright set.  Another fun set that you should definately add to your stamp collection!  The brown silk crinkle ribbon for my bow was from my stash.  It was just too beautiful not to use.

I was instantly drawn to this adorable image of a skating penguin and the bright bold colors of Kim's card.  And did you notice his fluffy tummy?  SOOOO cute!  I was so awe struck by her card that I almost forgot about the sketch.  In case you didn't know, Kim entered this baby in for 25 challenges!!!!  That deserves an award itself.  LOL!  Congratulations Kim on being this week's Sketch Artist.
