Look Ma!

Well we had some excitement at our house this weekend.  My little one lost her first tooth.  She was beyond excited.   She has waited so long for this to happen.  Last year in Kindergarten the teacher had the cutest little 'tooth tally' board.  Claudia longed to be on it all year.  Well good things come to those that wait. 

 

When I told her to put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy  I mentioned that if we were lucky we might even see some of the fairy dust from her.  She was so cute, she asked me what would happen to her if she touches the dust!  So before she woke up the next morning I grabbed some of my dazzling diamonds and brushed it on her pillow.  She was super excited and said, "Mommy this must have been were she walked on my pillow."  Gotta enjoy these moments while I can.  I'm sure it won't be long before one of her friends tells her the truth.

TCPTUES73 - Color Challenge

I'm LATE, LATE, LATE posting this.  But since I made the card, I thought I should post it. 

This week's hipster hostess with the mostess is none other than the AWESOME Leigh O'Brien.  Isn't this color combo just FABULOUS?!

I whipped out my Get Well set and went straight for Sprinkle.  Who else?  I just love Sprinkle.  Unfortunately she's not feeling too well.  So I tried to give her a little something to cheer her up.  A real simple layout, but nonetheless I think she'll like it.  Do you?    LOL!

 

Sorry to post and run.  But I've got dinner on the stove and my little one wants me to play a board game.  I seriously need to clone myself around here!!

ATSDTC61 - Color Challenge

Wooo-hooo!  Wasn't sure I was going to be able to play this week, but I dropped everything as soon as I got home and went for it.  I'm so glad I did too.  I just *had* to use another one of the Kiki La Rueimages.  This one reminds me of my DD in her school uniform.  This Kiki is Shy Kiki and I just love her.  Is she cute or what?  I paired her with a sentiment from the School Days set to make it a card perfect for a teacher.

Lesa challenged us this week to a color challenge, using Always Artichoke, Rose Red and Black - or as close as you can get!   I was surprised that I didn't happen to have these colors on hand.  But I did find some retired SU! In Colors and used True Thyme & Cranberry Crisp with black.  My base is the True Thyme. 

 

I had picked up a sheet of Cosmo Cricket's The Boyfriend - Homeworkon my last trip to my LSS and thought it would be perfect for a school card.  A little stitching and some ribbon from my May Arts stash and viola!

You can check the ATS bloglater today to see some more cards using this color combo from the design team.  I hope you will play along too.  This really is a fun color combo.  Definitely one I've never used before.

First day of school

Well here she is -  My 1st grader!   She was soooo happy to see her friends after a long summer apart.  I can't believe how fast they grow up.  It seems just like yesterday she was learning how to walk!

What you can't see in this picture is her first loose tooth.  She's SUPER excited about it.  She's one of the last in her class to finally lose a tooth.  I told her she would probably be late since she didn't get her first tooth until she was 14 months old. 
 

I thought you'd guys want to see what Jinxy was up too while Claudia was at school.
She's also getting big!  She just turned 4 months old.
 

 

She was sooooo bummed.  Her playmate wasn't home.  LOL!   I just bought her a new kitty condo.  As you can see she really likes it.  It faces the backyard where she can see all the birdies and squirrels.

Meet Kiki La Rue

Ohhhh tell me it isn't Monday and the first day of school already?!  Where did the summer go?  Seriously, I woke up this morning at an un-Godly hour just to make sure we weren't late.   Good thing too because traffic was crazy.  I will post some pictures of my big 1st grader tomorrow. 

So you're probably wondering who the heck this Kiki La Rue is.  Well in celebration of Christine's birthday she released three new stamps!  New rubbah is always a good thing.  And even better, they are also available in digi download.  And I just *know* you guys are going to want these cuties. 

I was so excited when I opened the mail Saturday to find these new babies waiting for me.  I inked them up as fast as I could.  I also was finally able to try my hand at sponging.  Fellow DT sister, Christina Fischer did an awesome tutorial a few weeks ago on this.  It's super easy to do and the effect gives you a look like you airbrushed it!

 

Today's card was CASE'd from THIS card by one of my stamping idol's Jen del Muro.  For the sponging, simply leave your image in the Nestability die and with your image masked, sponge your color around it.  I used Memento's Angel Pink for this.

Yay!! It's Thursday and that means another fun sketch for you guys to try AND another new Sketch Artist.  Once again everyone rocked this sketch.  Maybe it's because I haven't been playing along?  Could it be?  Who knows.  I can be superstitious sometimes.  Kinda like athletes that don't wash their socks or only wear their lucky underwear for games. 

The little voice inside my head is saying, is this your way of telling them you didn't make another card this week?  Uhhhh, yes I guess so.   SORRY guys.  I did come up with the sketch though.  There just are not enough hours in the day.

ATSDTC60 - Sketch Challenge

Did someone say sketch challenge?    Sign me up!  And you'll want to play along as well.  Just look at this fantastic sketch from Diane.  I couldn't wait to get started with this one.  So many fun elements and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

I just found out 'officially' that my sister is expecting again. She is over the top excited about her *little nudger* (you Twilight fans know where that's from!) and so is the rest of the family.    While I always thought it would be me to have another, it's just not in the cards for us.  So I get to live vicariously through my sis.  Morning sickness and all.  It does have it's benefits though.  I scored all of her Starbuck's and Red Bull's!!

Since we don't know the sex of the baby yet, I tried to play down the pink.  Can you tell what we're hoping for???  She already has a little boy.  As I was making this last night my DD, says mommy this doesn't look like Tia (spanish for aunt), she's not wearing all black!  Too funny.  Nonetheless I'm sure my sis will like it.  I did add a little bling just for her though.

I pulled out my DCWV Nana's Nursery Girl paper pack as my inspiration for the color palette.  All the images are from Oh Baby set from All That Scraps.  I hope you will play along with us.  For some inspiration from the design team check out the ATS blog later today for some more samples using Diane's wonderful sketch.

School Days Review

See I told you I was feeling square.    But I think you'll forgive me when you see this adorable card I made for my DD.  I plan on sneaking this into her lunch box on her first day in 1st grade.  

I just love this School Days set.  I decided to use the little bunny hugging her crayon.  I also couldn't resist using this lined paper by A Muse.  The color combo was inspired by all of the #2 pencils sitting on my desk that I need to label with my DD's name before school starts.

Sorry today's post is running late.  I've been in a meeting all morning and just had breakfast.  Yes it's lunch time, but I'm werid that way.  If I don't eat breakfast first, it just throws me off all day!  LOL!

So something tells me that you guys really liked last week's challenge.  YES?!  I thought so.  I had fun coming up with it.  I do love using those sentiment flags on my cards.  They just mix things up a bit.  I loved each and every submission from this sketch.

Now for a new sketch.  I am kicking myself big time today.   Cause once again I didn't have a chance to make a card.  My DD had a playdate with her class last night as a kind of a warm up for back to school, which starts on the 24th.  It was so cute to see them all get excited to see each other again.  By the time we got home and had our regular routine, Mom was spent!
