Sketchy Thursday

8 days till Christmas!    Are you guys getting excited?  I know I am.  As stressed out as this time of year makes me I *know* it will be worth it. 

As you will notice there's not one but FIVE featured Sketch Artist's today.  I decided to mix it up by showcasing all the fab gals that submitted a card for last week's challenge.    Thank you to everyone that participated.  I know it's a crazy hectic right now for most people.  And I do so appreciate all of you that play and continue to support Sketchy Thursdays!!

There is no sketch today as I've decided I need a little down time.    Literally.

Sketchy Thursday will resume on January 7th, 2010.  Doesn't that seem like so far away?  It does to me.  But as I'm sure most of you have plenty to keep you occupied between now & then.  AND if you do get board and need a sketch to get you going, you can always go to my sketch photo album with all the previous sketches posted there.

I will continue to be posting though.  You guys can't get rid of me that easily!  Plus sneak peeks for All That Scraps will be starting again soon.  I have all of the new stamps for January inked up, stamped and some even colored!  I can't wait to start showing you them.

Warm Winter Wishes

Did everyone have a good weekend?   I was mentioning to a friend that it seems the closer we get to Christmas the shorter the weekends seem.  Does it seem that way to any of you?

I'm finding this week to be bitter sweet.  It's my last full week at my current job.  Next week is a company shutdown and then my last day will officially be on 12/31.  So back out to the rat race I go.  I'm pretty bummed.  After 8 months I feel like I'm finally settling in and have gotten closer to the people I work with.  BUT on the other hand it will kinda off be nice to *pretend* I'm a stay at home mommy.  I just hope whatever is waiting for me next IS around the corner AND not a car! 

You probably stopped by today to see a card.  Am I right?  Okay, okay.  So here she is.  I've been dying to use the newest Otis & Milo Winter Wish set from Heather Rolin.  Heather rocks again with the most adorable dog & cat to see rubber.  What can I say, the girl knows what I like! 

I turned to another one of my trusty Key Ingredients kits from Taylored Expressions.  LOVE them!!  Kinda went crazy with the sewing machine.  But I am liking the way it turned out.  Can you guess what my favorite part is?

Honestly the picture doesn't do it justice. It looks amazing in real life.  I must have had fluff on the brain too, because I fluffed both the Milo and the snowman's ear muffs.  FUN! FUN! FUN!

Emma with a Wreath

It's a very wet Friday here in Northern California.    I don't mind it one bit.  For me it's the perfect excuse for STAMPING!!!  After seeing Tinla's card this week, it inspired me to make this little baby....

She's one of the images from the recently released Winter Kit from All That Scraps.  Emma is all decked out in her paper pieced dress and headband.  Her wreath is pretty simple, but I added some red liquid pearls to the berries for some texture. 

Patterned paper is from Imaginisce Polar Expressions line.  I finally was able to use my EK Success embossed curve punch. I thought it went well with the scalloping on the patterned paper.   Since I wasn't sure about a sentiment, I thought the printed ribbon would work.  Top it off with this tree (which is actually a brad) from Making Memories and that's it.

So what's on your agenda for this weekend?  More holiday shopping?  

Decorating?  Baking?   All little of them all?  Well whatever it is I hope you have a great time.

Sketchy Thursday #64

Is Christmas really only 15 days away?  Oy Vey!  I actually think I'm ready. As I may have mentioned before we're only doing the little ones this year.   DD really wants an American Girl doll.  Have any of you heard of these?  I thought when the Cabbage Patch dolls came out in the 80's that was crazy.  But these are even crazier!  They cost close to $100 and have more clothes and accessories than I do!  LOL! 

In spite of the high ticket price it does seem pretty fun.  You can even order them to resemble you with your choice of hair, skin and eye color.   So between Santa, Grandma and us DD will probably score one of these girls.  Wish me luck!

We have one of my favorite people up for today's featured Sketch Artist.  She's no stranger to our weekly sketches either.  In fact she has played every single one since Sketchy Thursday's was born.  Ladies give it up for my girl.....

It's no surprise why she is this week's winner.  This card is signature Tinla with it's clean lines, impeccable color coordination and use of MS punches as well as Spellbinders!   In fact it was because of her that I have purchased all of my Nestabilities.  Hey what are friends for, right?    But all kidding aside I love this card.  Especially how she accented the sentiment flag with the holly and pearls.

Snowman Soup Anyone?

Happy Friday!!  Is everyone ready for the weekend?  Any shopping plans? I may do a little.  While I prefer to do 95% of it online, there's just some things you need to see in person.  KWIM? 

I have a card for you guys today.  Can you believe it?  If you're in my monthly ATC group then this card is a bit of a sneak peek. 

I couldn't resist making a card using Diane's newest set - Warm Cocoa Wishes.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this set.  The images are adorable and there are so many possibilities.  This little guy cracks me up.  He's sittin' back in his cup as if he was sittin' in a hot tub.

I used some dark chocolate and kraft cardstock from Papertrey Ink.  LOVE their cardstock!  The patterned paper is from Imaginisce's Polar Expressions line.  Buttons are also from Papertrey Ink- holiday button mix.  I colored him with Copics, added some Fun Flock on the brim of his hat and paper pieced the mug.

Hello!!!!!!

How is everyone doing?  Do you have your trees up and houses all decorated?    If you do can you come over and do mine?  Actually we are planning on getting our tree this weekend and then I'll pull out all the stops with the decorating.  Putting everything up is definately my favorite part of the holiday season.

Sarah knocked my socks off with her take on last week's sketch with this goregous flower as her focal point.   I love the details she added to make it POP from the glitter and button to the swirled accents around it.  A winning color combination made it all come together perfectly.  Great job Sarah!!!

CC Designs Winter Sugarplums BLOG HOP

For my first card I have Trevor skiing in to wish you a warm winter.  This card actually happened by accident too.  I was playing around with a new paper slab I picked up at Mike's from Me & My Big Ideas.  I had this patterned piece out and the idea of Trevor skiing on the mountain sort of unfolded.   For the snowy zig zag below I used baby blue Stickles topped with Polar Flower Soft.

 

My next card has to be my favorite image from the Winter Kit, Santa Emma.  She's sittin' pretty on these two gifts.  Wonder what could be inside?  An iPhone? A pair of Uggs?  Don't know, but whatever it is I'm sure we'll love it!  Patterned paper is also from the MMBI slab.  Cardstock is from PTI.

Sneak Peek - Eskimo Sayuri

I have a card to post!  Can you believe it?  I almost can't!!   Today's post is using a new image from the Chubby Pencil line called Eskimo Sayuri.  I love this new line.  The images remind me of the Disney movie released this year - Ponyo.  My daughter and I *loved* this movie.  We were hoping it would be released on DVD for the holidays, but so far nothing has been scheduled. 

I wanted to mix up my colors to make this card look cold but feel warm.  Does  that make sense?  I turned to some of my new American Crafts Merry Mint paper for the background.  I used some shimmer white cardstock from SU! and  my MS icicle border punch before running it through my snowflake Cuttlebug folder for the middle section.  And what about this YUMMY ribbon?  Such a find.  In one of my many blurfing mornings I came accross Sharon Johnson's blog, No Time To Stamp.  Sharon also has a ribbon store with an awesome selection.  

Here's a close up of Sayuri and her bling'd snowsuit.  And her look wouldn't be complete without her signature flower.  LOVE IT!

Sketchy Thursday on Black Friday

Happy day after Thanksgiving!!  I hope everyone had a wonderful and filling day with lots of good eats and time with family.  That's exactly what we did.  

I apologize for not posting this yesterday but somehow the day just got away from me and the thought of pre-posting it just escaped me. 

I promise that the extra day was worth the wait though.  This week's featured Sketch Artist made *the* cutest card.  And when you see it, you'll see why it caught my eye.

These little chickies are SUPER adorable.  They are all decked out and ready for some holiday fun.  Of course I love all of the bling too, but what put her card over the top for me was the POP of the green felt ribbon and poinsettia.
